Venue (Category)

A venue is the place where something happens, esp. an organized event such as a concert, conference, or sports event.

When creating a venue, it is important to enter at least two bits of information:

• {{loc:ll:a,b}} - a location - see how locations are entered here. This will enable showing the venue on a map, wherever it is referenced
  • for instance: {{loc:ll:44.652994,-78.688738}} to use lat/long - looks like {{Location}}
  • or {{loc:s:502 Ledge Hill Road, Burnt River, ON, K0M 1C0}} to use a searcheable address - looks like {{Location}}
  • we use Google maps to resolve these addresses
• the list of sports that can occur at this venue, for instance [[Sport:Motocross]], [[Sport:Cross-country_(Moto)]] - showing like Motocross⁺⁺, Cross-country_(Moto)⁺⁺.
  • Sometimes we can infer this from the events that reference the location, but it's best to enter this info for each venue, directly.
